I created this tag to show that a persondoesn’t always have to use a rectangle or square. I applied Evergreen Bough Ink to the embossingfolder on the recessed side and ran the circle through the Big Shot. Since the circle was a little wider than thefolder I did have to apply a little more ink with the Ink Blending tool. I thensprayed the circle using some Perfect Pearl Mist to give it some shine.

Oh Oh Oh!!! It starts tomorrow!! Tim's Tags! I love seeing what he does each day!!! Here's another tag from Virnna!!

On this tag, I embossed the ATC and thenapplied a few layers of Picket Fence Distress Stain to make it whiter. I then applied Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass, anda little Black soot to the sky area. Around the embossed snowflakes I used a paint brush to apply the ink.Next I stamped the Stampin’ Up snowman on the card and on to some CopicXpress-It paper. I colored the snowmanand paper pieced it onto the card.

For this tag I stamped the tag using TeaDye ink and a music background stamp. Next, I embossed the tag with the texture trade. I used the ink blending tool and appliedVintage Photo ink over the embossed area and Festive Berries over the non-embossedsection. I sprayed the tag with PerfectPearl Mist Forever Red then added my stamped calendar, flowers, and garland.

It's Tag Time Again!!!

It's my favourite time of year! Christmas! And that means Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas!!!! Virnna is already started by going back over some of the great techniques from past years and creating her own versions!

I am going to tease you a bit and only share one tag per day this week as we lead up to the start of the 2011 version on Tim's blog...

What says the end of summer then onelast attempt at flying a kite in the early evening hours? And what papers does one use when scrappingthis event? Why Fancy Pant’s Summers EndCollection of course!

Because it was evening time, the windhad died down, and it really wasn’t the best kite flying weather, but my sonwas able to get the kite in the air by running as fast as he could. He didn’t seem too discouraged and had agreat time racing around trying to keep the kite in the air.

Technique Tuesday - Wobbles

Wow! What a Technique Tuesday Hiatus!! I hope to be back with them more regularly after Christmas, but I just had to try this out and share it with you! It took me about 2 minutes to do. Seriously. So quick.
I have heard people talking about "Wobbles" lately and I wanted to try to see if I could make them myself. And then, when the cards for the Card Swap came in, somebody had made one themselves and put it on a card - so I was SURE it could be done!

Some of you will know of my La La Land Crafts Digital Stamp addiction that I have right now, and when I was deciding what I wanted to use for a stamp on my card to wobble....I knew right away that it would be Luka On Sled!! He's so adorbale. I coloured him up with lots of Copic Markers and then went to work on the card!

So, let's see what we have.....

What you need:
A thin crafting wire about 4-5" long. (I actually used a twist tie as it was all I had on hand)
Scotch Tape

First....twist the wire around your finger about 3-4 times:

Next....tape the "spring" to the item you want to wobble with scotch tape:

And finally.....tape the other end of the spring to your card:

And watch it wobble away!!!

Disclaimer....I think these will work better on smaller/symmetrical shapes as he was a little off balance. I wanted him to wobble around the sled though so I didn't move the spring up any. I actually made a second one and attached it behind his head and DIDN'T attach that one to the card. It just helps it hold its position.

Thanksgiving Tradidion

We are seeing a lot of Thanksgiving themed items and posts on the internet with American Thanksgiving only a couple of weeks away. I thought I would join in the fun with a layout Virnna did about this past Thanksgiving with the new Fancy Pants Summer's End collection in store now! Enjoy!

I got some pictures printed off of ourtime in Nova Scotia this past Thanksgiving. It was such a nice weekend, and I took lots of photos. Here is onelayout of what I am sure will turn into three or maybe four layouts.

We have been having a lot of fun usingCopics here at the store, but the sunflowers in this layout are actuallycolored with watercolor pencils. Icolored the image with the pencils and then used a brush and water to blendthem together. I had a lot a fun usingthis technique.

I also created the “washi” tape effectfollowing this technique found here in this video.

Today I have a couple of seasonal cardsfeaturing some of the latest products from Ranger and Tim Holtz. I used the new Distress Ink colors on thisfirst card.

I embossed the background first and thenused the direct to paper method to apply my ink colors. Hope all the spooks andgoblins have a great evening gathering their treats.

A Cricut Wedding Card

Some friends of ours are getting married on the weekend, and since we can not attend, I made them a great card to send off in our place! This was inspired by the card on Page 79 of the August 2011 Cricut Magazine. I changed it up a bit to suit the products that I had and I think it turned out pretty great! The people are from the Sweethearts Cartridge and the canopy is done using a Tim Holtz On The Edge Die. I used mostly cardstock, and some scraps of Basic Grey Sugar Rush that I had laying around!

To Janet and Jason - I hope that you have a wonderful day on Saturday and a lifetime of happiness!!!!

To the rest of you - I hope you like my card!

The card was a little "front heavy" so I added a few layers on the inside to help it stand better and printed the sentiment from something I found online!

Make Ahead Christmas Mini

In an ideal world this mini album willbecome a December Daily album where I will take a picture a day in December andscrap it in this book. I am not sure Iwant to or can commit to that idea, but I like the idea of creating an album inadvance so I can scrap as many as I can.

I used three patterned papers from theSimple Stories 25 Days of Christmas collection, one pattern from My Mind’s EyeLost and Found Christmas, and a few cut outs from Bo Bunny’s Blitzen. At this point in the game, I kept thingsrather simple by just cutting out the elements and creating the basicbook. I will can add embellishmentslater when I have my photos. The SimpleStories paper really lends itself well to this style of scrapping. Theirby-line is “tell your stories simply.”

Well, today I have the pleasure to share with you some projects from Jessica Byers again! I sent her away with some of the new BoBunny Forever Fall one weekend, and you should see what she did with it!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During my wonderful weekend away Imade a few projects that I wanted to share with you. They make excellentgifts for family who live far away! The forever fall Bobunny line made methink of just that... family! So here are a mini book, an altered cd caseand a card.

The 3x3 mini book: There is atutorial on making this here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TokMe6BAmY, this will give you the basics. The book I made is a little more elaborate - with pockets in each page thathave a tag for the description of each child. It also has ribbon to coverthe spine and to tie it shut. The stickers from "foreverfall" were perfect for this project - even in using the outlines from thepackaging the stickers were on! A lot of the names and words were madewith the "My Minds Eye - happy go lucky 'together' alphabetstickers". I was really impressed with the amount of letters on thatsheet!

The CD case was made to hold a cd ofour family pictures. I cut the leaves away from one of the printed papersand dry embossed them (and also learned that I prefer the embossing on theother side! LOL!). After sanding it I attached it to thebottom corner with pop-up dots to give the project dimension. Thestickers aided in quick and easy decoration to complete the front. The cdcase itself has a notch in the top and bottom that looks like it was made tohave a piece of twine tied around it - a nice finishing touch.

One of the stickers looked justright for a card, so I added this to the group to give you inspiration foranother project. Simply done, but it will be appreciated by the receiverI'm sure.

Pumpkin Cutie

For this layout, I wanted to use the newMy Mind’s Eye Mischievous Collection but not with Halloween photos. I added a few blue embellishments to balancethe blue color in my Son’s shirt

The little jack-o-lantern stamp isactually an old Stampin’ Up balloon stamp that I turned upside down and coloredthe stem brown and added the face with a Sepia Copic Multiliner.

Here is a close up of the flower that Icreated with felt using the Tim Holtz Scallops On the Edge Die and a 2”Gluber. I used the Imaginisce I-Top BradMaker to finish off the flower center. The yellow border is a new Spellbinder Edgeabilities.

As I was sorting and cleaning some stuff up this week, I came across an extra copy of the CardMaps magazine from last February that was stuffed away. I was flipping through it and came across a sketch and card example that were perfect for one of the Die Cuts from our swap last month so off I went! It was great, I managed to use all scraps (even my card base) to make this card, which is always a good feeling!

The papers were from Echo Park Summer Days and BoBunny Sunkissed, with letters to complete my sentiment from Cosmo Cricket.

La La Land Crafts

Thanks to Lynn for pointing us in their direction!! Digital Stamps are great because you can just print them off at home, and have them come out in whatever size you want! Awesome! Virnna took to them with some Copic Markers and - wow - they look awesome!!

Today’s cards feature some digitalstamps from La La Land Crafts. These twostamps are from the Marci and Luka collection. I had a lot of fun coloring these little people. When I was trying to decide what colors touse on their clothing, it brought back memories of playing with paper dolls. Dothey even make those anymore?

Here is what I ended up with.

In this card I colored the image withCopic markers, matted the image and then used a 6x6 cutout from the Bo BunnyBlitzen collection. To add a little sparkle I used a Spica pen on her skirt,some stickles to the brown border, and used a silver Uniball pen to write thesentiment. The flourish is a Joleesticker.

I went back to a fall theme with thiscard and used Bo Bunny Forever fall patterned paper. To cut the brown circle I used a SpellbindersNestabilities and then embossed it using the Branches Cuttlebug Embossingfolder. I outlined the circle with awhite gel pen and the alphas are Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type stickers.

Hi Everyone. This week is all about cards in anticipationof World Card Making Day on Oct. 1. Icreated this card with a fall theme using the Bo Bunny Forever Fall collection.

I took the Bo Bunny Stamp and stamped it3 times using Rusty Hinge, Barn Door, and Wild Honey Distress Inks. I stamped it onto watercolor paper, andbefore the images were completely dry, I used the Ink Blending tool to lightlysmear and color the background. Oncefully dry, I ran the paper through the Cuttlebug using the Branches Embossingfolder. I then assembled my card usingthe following supplies:

One of the great perks of working hereat the store is that I get to try out new things. I have been eyeing these Prima Flocked Rubonsfor awhile and finally decided to give them a try. The package label says, “So easy you canapply them with your fingernails”, and in fact I found that that was the bestway to apply them. I could feel when Ihad rubbed enough to cause the image to transfer onto the project. Here’s how they turned out on mylayout.

Happy Monday everyone! It's hard trying to get back into the swings of things after you've been away for a couple of days. I'm super busy trying to get caught up from last week, and ahead of the game for our crops this weekend!!!

I know not as great as the real thing, but then again I have lived in NewBrunswick for 13 years and have seen a moose probably 5 times and usually bythe side of the road late at night when I would prefer not to see one.

The other day when I was at work a customer asked me what do people use clear plastic paper for. My first response was to say they use it in mini albums or for altered projects, but this question got me thinking about how I could incorporate it into a project. I was also contemplating this week and the fact that the Balloon Fiesta was in town then this idea came to me.

I cut a one inch strip of the background paper and then a 3 inch strip of the back ground paper. I cut a 3 ¼ inch strip of the plastic paper, peeled the protective covering off, and used Scor tape to attach the plastic to the background paper. I then created my embellishments and decorated the window.

I hope all the locals and visitors to Sussex enjoy the balloons and all the festivities that go with it.

Today’s project features the new Bo Bunny Welcome Home Collection. You have all probably heard of “Honey Do” lists. Usually it is the list wives create for their husbands to do things around the house. Well in our household it is the opposite. I do not generally make lists. I function and organize differently, but my husband makes lists upon lists. One of the things he listed was: Make sure to get a summer family photo, because it may be the last time everyone is together. I so like it when he puts something easy on the list. Sometimes trying to get a family photo can be a little tricky, but this time everyone seemed really into it and very cooperative. These photos were captured in relatively few frames, and they also went well with the new Bo Bunny Collection.

I created the flower using the new Cosmo Cricket Glubers as my adhesive.

I almost titled this blog post “Waste Not” because this layout was made mostly from scraps. The Chevron background was new, but everything else came from the scrap stash at the store. I didn’t even trim the papers very much. I decided to do this because I had already completed all the planned items on my list for work and still had time to create.

I found the olive green cardstock in the bin already cut on a diagonal and I found the navy cardstock with the stars already cut out. I played around with placement and came up with the design for this layout.

Technique Tuesday - Inking Embossing Folders

Woah - it seems I have been slacking again!!! I was out on Thursday to have some work done at the dentist, and then Friday through Monday we were super busy over on the forum with our Online Crop! We're having so much fun and there are TONS of great layouts emerging daily from fellow scrappers!! Even I managed 7 layouts in 2 days - can you imagine? Just Hanging Out

Hmmm not much banter from me today.......just that I have a layout today from Virnna!! Check it out!

We had company come that had never been to Southern New Brunswick before so we took them to see some of the local sites. On this particular day trip we were in downtown Saint John, and I think my family had more fun acting like tourists than our company.

I started this layout first by stamping the dots with Antique Linen Distress Ink using Tim Holtz’s Ultimate Grunge set. Then I misted the background with Tattered Angel’s Electric Blue Glimmer Mist and Chalkboard Charcoal Glimmer Mist. After that, I used some Cosmo Cricket Earth Love paper, inked the edges with Weathered Wood Distress Ink, and adhere it to my page. I created the twine border by first stapling the end then taking some Matte Accents I place a dot of glue where I wanted the loop to go.

Wellll last week, our own Linda posted a link to a beautiful card with a very fancy fold, but couldn't find instructions on how to make it. I studied the pictures for awhile and then went to work trying to figure it out! I did! YAY! So today I'm going to show you how to make this cute card. It's not difficult, but there is lots of folding and cutting in the right places, so here we go. I hope this tutorial makes sense, please feel free to ask for clarification on anything.

Have you ever tried something as an adult that you loved as a child? Well kite flying was my favorite thing to do! I am so happy that earlier this spring I got to give it a try again. Wow! What an experience! I just loved getting that kite way up high in the sky. It was so much fun. Now I know why my son looks so happy in this picture with his kite. He just loves to kite fly. Even now that he is a teenager. The fun in doing an outside activity like kite flying really is pretty special. Even more so than playing a video game on a summer sunny day! Not sure if he would agree though! Lol.

Technique Tuesday - Scalloped Borders Using Circles

Well, I have had the most frustrating 2 days trying to get this edited and uploaded for you!!! I have officially given up and I'm giving you the unedited version without the titles and examples in the video!! The examples of how we have used this technique are below the video!! Sorry for the delay - I'm more than slightly annoyed!!! :)

I think scalloped borders are one of those things that have been around on pages and cards and that will never go away! When in doubt - add a scalloped border! Wouldn't it be nice if we could change the size of the scallops on our border punches?? Or not have to trace a template and cut it out! Here is a solution for you!! Use Circles!!! Using this technique, it's also very easy to add a scalloped border around different shapes instead of just a straight line!

Let's see how it's done!!!

Here are some examples of how we've used this technique. First a brand new card that has yet to be revealed at SI from Virnna! Love how she used the different sized circles on her card! She's used mostly Echo Park Summer Days paper and the sentiment is from the sticker sheet of the same collection!

I Do...

Back in January when we started our weekly sketch challenge over on the forum, Virnna posted a link to www.sketchsupport.com for her sketch. On the third day of their week I saw this layout with the heart - click here - and fell in love. About that time, BoBunny introduced their Vicki B line and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this sketch/layout for a scrap lift. I finally did it a couple of weeks ago as an anniversary gift for my friends Mike and Angela who have been married for a year now. I have been wanting to share with you, but forgot to take a picture once it was in a frame and finally just managed to get somebody to take pictures and get them to me yesterday! yay!

Here is my layout:

It was VERY easy to make and not TOO time consuimg. To make the large heart, I drew the heart shape out of some scrap paper and glued the little strips to it directly. I didn't cut the heart out until the very end. I used just 4 different papers cut to 1/2" and then overlapped them so that they were only showing about a 1/4" when glued. I used double sided tape fairly liberally on the scrap paper and stitched on my sewing machine to really hold it in place. Every once in awhile I skewed one of the strips as she did to add a little interest although I'm not sure you can really tell in this picture. The title is cut from the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge. All papers are BoBunny Vicki B or Double Dot Cardstock.

I absolutely loved how it turned out and have another variation in mind for more projects using this idea!!!

Technique Tuesday - Fringe Flowers

I saw these flowers a looong time and just getting around to doing a tutorial on them now. They are super quick and easy. Most of the video is me talking at the end about random things. oops. I try to avoid doing that. There are tons of variations on how you could do this to get different sized flowers, so feel free to change things up and see what you come up with - make sure to share with us on Facebook, The forum, twitter, blog...however! We just want to see!

Final Christmas In July Tag

How fitting that our final Christmas In July tag falls on day that is exactly 5 months until Christmas!!! Can you believe it? Virnna has made some GREAT tags this month, and the final one to share is NO exception!!

For this tag a veered from the Santa Theme and created this tag.

I cut a piece of patterned paper from Basic Grey’s Nook and Pantry collection and glued it to my plain white cardstock. It doesn’t show up in the photo very well, but there is a subtle grid like pattern in the back ground. I colored the tag using Weathered Wood, Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire, and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. Next, I sprayed the tag with Perfect Pearl Mist in Pearl and then stamped the snowflakes from the Tim Holtz Holiday Mini Set using Black Archival Ink. I used the same Green Velvet paper and a Sizzix tree die to cut out my tree and then applied Perfect Puff to the limbs to create the snow. I took some Cappuccino twine and tied it around the trunk. The stars are grunge stars with Golden Rod and Scattered Straw stickles and the snowflake was created from Inkssentials Shrink plastic. Once again I used an Outlines ornament topper image stamped it on the Shrink Plastic and used a heat gun to shrink the image. I then applied Diamond Stickles and a Prima gem. The bookplate is also from grunge and painted with Brushed Pewter Crackle paint. I wrote the words Silent Night with a glue pen and used some Artful Stamper silver embossing powder. Finally I applied some Rock Candy Crackle paint to the tag and I was done.

I had a great time creating this tag and the others as well. I learned to play with shrink plastic and will likely use that more in the future. Of course, I got to go over to Tim Holtz’s Blog and be inspired by his great skills and talent. I find it can be a boost to my creativity to learn to use something that is not normally in my toolbox and I challenge you to try something new this week.

The Joys Of Being Outside

Sometimes it is nice for the whole family to get outside and be away from all things technology. It doesn’t seem to happen too often, so when it does; it’s great to have a picture to document this occurrence. We went for a hike out at our property on the Lakefield Road where there is no cell phone reception and had a great time exploring the woods.

Hi everybody. I am here today to share a project I made using the new Zoology Collection from Bo Bunny. When I saw this collection I knew that it would go perfectly with these photos of my son playing at the park with his bright orange giraffe shirt.

I used a Page Maps sketch found in the summer edition of the Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine on page 42. I started with 2 pages of Bo Bunny Zoology Zebra paper and 1 of Wild Thing.

Technique Tuesday - Fragment Charms

Helo from foggy Nova Scotia!! We're really hoping the fog burns off because we are heading Whale Watching this afternoon!! Fun!! Virnna is providing you with Technique Tuesday today and it's awesome....give it a try and see what you come up with!

Jessica asked me to attempt a Technique Tuesday while she was away on vacation. I have to tell you I am a little nervous doing this because Jessica does a great job coming up with ideas and presenting them. Well here goes.

Here is photo of all the different sizes that come in the square/rectangle fragments package. I was surprised at how light weight they are. I often thought they would weigh a project down, but not so.

For the project I am adhering two of the same size and shape fragments to paper. You can choose any type of paper. For mine, I created my background using a snowflake image from Tim Holtz’s Mini Holiday Set.

I wanted to add a little color so I traced around the fragment onto the areas I wanted to show through and colored that area with Copic Markers BG10 & BG15

Next I used Glossy Accents to glue the fragments to the background image. I put the glue directly onto the coloured images, placed the fragments on and sort of pressed down and squished it around in a circular motion to make sure the Glossy Accents was spread evenly.

Once the glue was dry, I cut around the fragments as close as possible and then used a file to sand away any remaining paper sticking out on the edges. Basically you can stop here and glue these down onto your project, but I went ahead and glued the two fragments together with some ribbon in between to create this charm below. The hardware is from Stampin’ Up and the beads are actually an old earring that I haven’t worn in ages.

Next I took some Gold Paint Dabber and painted the edges.

And here is the charm on a finished tag.

Building Castles In The Sand

Happy Friday everyone! Busy day here today as I get ready to head to Nova Scotia tonight for a few days to visit family. I have a layout to share with you today before I leave though. I have been dying to use the BoBunny Barefoot & Bliss stuff since it came in and I finally got a chance. The pictures I had contained a fair bit of pink so I really wanted to bring some of that into the layout, so I paired up some Barefoot & Bliss with the Echo Park Summer Days and it worked perfectly!!!

The Trinkets from BoBunny are super cute and fit perfectly in my big flowers I had laying around. The border sticker seen here is from Doodlebug that was leftover from a project in January.

I used the Barefoot &; Bliss Combo Sticker sheet for the title and to fill in some of the words in my journaling! There are so many great stickers on these sheets!!!

Technique Tuesday - Mini Pom Poms with Baker's Twine

Well, after 2 days of sorting out the new video format on my camera, I finally am ready to share Technique Tuesday with you! I love these little Pom Poms! They are so cute! I used them as the ice cream on the cones in the layout below, but there are so many uses for them....watch the blog to see them used in the future. I think I might make a whole bunch and just have them on hand so they are ready whenever I need them!

Christmas Tags

Woah! I haven't shared with you in a looooong time! So sorry about that!!! I will share 2 projects with you today to make up for it!!! :)

Like I said last week some time, we will be sharing a few Christmas projects with you this month as part of our Christmas In July!! :) We are also having a Christmas Die Cut Swap and Christmas Card Swap!

Virnna made some great tags last week and I think you will be impressed!! Let's see what she's done!!

Here we are celebrating Christmas in July at Scraptacular Images, and in the scrapbooking world, Christmas means Tim Holtz’s Twelve Tags of Christmas. Jessica’s assignment this week was to create a tag based on one of Tim’s tags.

This first one I call Santa tag 25

I made my tag out of watercolor paper. I stamped the Santa image from the Tim Holtz Mini Holiday set with Black Archival Ink and masked it while I applied Fired Brick Distress Stain. Distress Stains are great for applying lots of color to large spaces in a short amount of time. Next, I used some Pearl Dauber Paint to paint the edges of my tag and Santa’s beard. I stamped the pine branch image in the upper corners then applied Lime Green Stickles to the branches and to the garland on Santa’s head. I also used Ruby Slipper Stickles to add the berries in the garland. I used Copic Marker E50 and R20 to add a little color to Santa’s face. At this point I took my chipboard numbers and applied enamel accents because I knew it would take a while for it to dry. I used Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers Styled Labels Die to cut some Green Velvet paper and stapled some WRMK Glitter Tape to it. Finally, I stamped the Believe image and applied some Tim Holtz corners

The next tag is also a Santa tag using the same Tim Holtz Mini Holiday Set

I stamped the Santa image with Black Archival Ink, masked it off, and stamped the tag with the Fab Flourish stamp using Pearl Dauber Paint and the snowflake image using Black Archival Ink. I colored the tag using Fired Brick Distress Stain and then Distress Inks in Antique Linen, Peeled Paint, and Fired Brick. I colored the Santa the same as above. The flourish is a grunge flourish that I covered with Versa Mark Ink and heat embossed with Gold Artful Stamper embossing powder. I made the flower embellishments from Inkssentials Shrink plastic. I stamped two different sizes of Outlines Ornament toppers with Staz On Ink and using a heat gun shrank the images. It’s really kind of cool to see the shrinking process. There is a good video on the Ranger site about shrink plastic just click on Videos and then on New videos. I colored the Shrink plastic using Copic markers. I also used some Tim Holtz foliage and Prima gems to finish off the flowers. I added a border of Green Velvet paper to the bottom of the tag. I cut the border using the Tim Holtz On the Edge Brackets Die.

The Design Challenge - Door Plaques

Awhile back I bought a few of these wooden plaques at the Dollarama. I thought to myself...."self, this would make a great challenge for us!" So, I gave one to Virnna and Bernadette, and I set out with mine with the help of Chelsea (Larry's daughter) to see what we could come up with!! Well, I finally have them all back and a free day to post so here we go!!!!

Chelsea wanted to make something for a friend of hers who is expecting a little boy in the fall, so we set to making a Name Sign for the door of his nursery!! We discovered they were having a Winnie The Pooh themed nursery which was perfect as I'd just bought the Winnie The Pooh Font Cricut Cartridge.

To create the background I painted the edges using Periwinkle Dauber Paint. Then, I took some Sticky Back Canvas and sprayed it with 3 colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist a yellow, green, and blue. Next, I traced thepattern onto the canvas and cut it out and applied it to the wood sign. I thought the edges needed more definition so I applied some Dusty Concord Distress Stain.

Go Go Daddy!!!

Back with our last project this week with the new We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Large Heads! We didn't show them all in projects this week, but here are all of them:

You'll likely see the other ones used in the future because I know I am in love with this tool, as are many others! Sooo, on to our last project!

I did a layout using the Banners head, but combined it with some paper as well. Here is a close up of my stitching:

You can see that I didn't stitch the entire thing this time! I started by doing a bamboo stitch (the stitch I used in THIS video for the stem of the vine.) along the top of each string of banners, then I used the loop stitch (also in the video) to fill in the banners that I knew I wasn't going to use with paper. To create the flags, I made diamonds and folded them in half, looped them over the bamboo stitch and glued the two "triangles" together. Now they hang and flap like a real banner! I used some of the new sparkly glitter thread in Silver!

Here is the complete layout using the Teresa Collins Sports Papers:

All of the embellishments are cut out of the papers, and an EKSuccess Binding Edge Punch was used. I added the names onto the pictures before I printed since I knew I was only going to have a small journaling box, I wouldn't need to waste space writing names since the page is all about WHO was at the race.

Sew Easy Large Loop de Loop

It's Virnna's turn to share some projects with you today!!!

The creative people at WRMK are always coming up with new tools and one of the latest is the Sew Easy tool. This spring they came out with some new large heads to create even more stitched designs on your projects. The new head that I chose to work with is the Loop de Loop.

And here is what I made.

The card came together quite easily. I ran the head over my ivory colored cardstock and stitched with various colors of DMC floss. The color scheme was inspired by the June 14^th Tuesday trigger on the Moxie Fab World website. I inked the edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. Next I stamped the Ditto Studio G sentiment on Kraft Cardstock using Staz On Jet Black Ink. Finally, I tied a blue ribbon and assembled the card.

On the layout, I cut a Wilson doily into triangle shapes to make the pennants of the banner, glued them down and then ran the head over the banner. Next, I stitched the loops with DMC floss.

Technique Tuesday - Loop Stitch With Sew Easy

Soooo to go along with all of our stitching this week and the new heads from We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Tool, I thought I would do a little video showing you the neat stitch they've used for some of their heads. I'm going to show you what I did with the Vine and the Lazy Daisy heads, but you could use this with the others as well - including the Banners and the Smocking which they show you on the back of the packages.

Sew Much Fun Week

Another new week! Yay! This week, we are going to share with you some projects using the new heads for the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Tool!! I am sooo falling in love with not only the new heads, but the new threads that just arrived as well - there is twine, glitter, and varigated!!! It's awesome.

Today I have a card to show you using the glitter thread and the Hearts and Love heads. The new heads are wider than the original 6. In the case of this card, I punched the holes in a row like normal, but only used parts of the stitching I did! You can't really see the glitter in the thread but believe when I say that it is YUMMY!!!!

The image on the front is a free digital image that I found here and coloured with these Copics: E29, E33, E35, E37, Y38, YG03, YG11, G07, RV02, RV34, R59, Colourless Blender.

I used the Sweet Stripe paper from the Tiny Princess Little Yellow Bicycle line. Not just for baby girl layouts! That's Labels 4 Spellbinders you see, as well as some Lime Green Stickles! Oh, and I used my Spellbinders die as a stencil and made the blue sky with Broken China Distress Ink and my Blending Tool.

Desktop Calendar

Can you believe it's Friday again? I wish the forecast looked better for the weekend, but we'll eventually have a nice weekend, I just know it!! Today is the last day of our 6x6 paper pad week. I went back to the Basic Grey Life of the Party pad that Virnna used earlier in the week and decided to make a little desktop calendar to help me to remember when all the birthdays and anniversaries are throughout the year! Here is the finished project:

This project took many different twists and turns!! I used lots of Espresso Paint Dabber to ink the edges of everything, a Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels set to cut out the "calendars", some Tim Holtz Film Strip Ribbon, and some Twine.

The directions for the calendar are here - she is amazing! The pictures would all look the same if I showed you each month, but I used a different paper from the pad for each month! I added some Xmas Red, Orange Peel, and Yellow Stickles to the banner and presents. I added Glossy Accents over the "Save The Date" and "Don't Forget" cut outs as well.

I listed the dates on each page on my computer as I did so the calendar would work from year to year. I will have to add in new birthdays and annivesaries as they come, so I used a "less sticky" adhesive for the top paper so it would be somewhat easy to get off. Everything else I used Double Sided Tape!

This was so much fun, and easy to do!! I have a feeling I'll have some requests from the family to make some more of these guys!!

Slices of Summer

I'm pleased to be showing you a project from Jessica Byers again today! She TOTALLY put her 6x6 Echo Park Summertime Paper Pad to good use for us this week! I definitely recommend coming in to see this album in person in the next week or so before I send it back to Jess, because it's amazing. I don't know where she finds the time!!! :)

Please note: This post is VERY picture heavy so be patient and let it load - it'll be worth it. I tried to keep the file sizes small without jeopardizing the quality. Oh, and please excuse some of the shadows!! :)

A few years ago I had made a mini album out of lunch bags and since then I’ve been wanting to do another. The 6 x 6 paper pads are very ideal for decorating the pages of these albums! The Echo Park Summer Days line was perfect for this summer 2010 memory book. Each bag was cut down to 7”. The binding was made of double-sided pattern paper that was accordion folded. I chose to put the book together then decorate each page – that way I wouldn’t have to remember to leave space on each page for the binding! Lunch bag books create “pockets”, so within these are more pages. In total, the book has a “title” page, a back cover and 18 pages – all with just 5 lunch bags! I wanted to leave you with a website for instructions on this particular book, but couldn’t find one… I did; however, find LOTS of variations! Just google “lunch bag scrapbook/mini album” and check them out!

6x6 Life of the Party

The challenge from Jessica was to create something using a 6x6 paper pad more specifically the Basic Grey Life of the Party 6x6 pad. 6X6 papers are great because they have all the yummy details of the larger papers but in a smaller version.

Here is what I created.

The first project I tackled was this 6x6 easel card.

To make the base of the card I followed the instructions at Splitcoaststampers except I scored a 6x12 paper at 6” and 9”. I also used the coordinating Life of the Party Clear Birthday Stamp set.

I used 4 papers from the pad: a stripe, a brown wood grain, a yellow wood grain, and the stars. I centered the stripe and then cut the wood grain in half and placed them on both sides. I ran the star paper through the Big Shot using the Tim Holtz On the Edge Plaque and Postal Die. The On the Edge dies are perfectly sized for 6x6 papers. I used the Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge to cut out my stars. I used Creative Imaginations Corragated Cardstock and the yellow wood grain paper and the star stamp from the Life of the Party Birthday Stamp Set.

Happy Start Of A New Week everyone!!! :) This week is all about 6x6 paper pads!! We've got layouts, cards, mini albums, and more for you! Check out how versatile these pads are!!! Playful Layout - I focused on the Out Of The Blue line from My Mind's Eye Lime Twist for this challenge. For this layout I used 3 sheets from my 6x6 Paper Pad, Out of the Blue Smile Frame, Playful Title and Stickers from the Family Accessory Sheet. I also used The Twinery Baker's Twine in Cappaccino, Distress Ink in Forest Moss and Queen and Co. Ice Rox in Chocolate Delight.

You Lift Me Up Layout - For this layout I used 2 sheets from 6x6 Paper Pad and Family Balloon Die Cut. I also used Bazzill Basics Half the Edge in Pinecone, some buttons from my stash, Cappaccino Twine, and Distress Ink in Forest Moss. I used my Jasmine cartridge for my title, part of it using the cricut markers and part cut out of cardstock. I also cut the cloud under the balloon from my April Showers cartridge.

You Lift Me Up Card - I made this 6x6 card using a sheet from the same 6x6 paper pad. These sheets make great scenes for cards. I distressed the edges using my Tim Holtz Edge Distressor. I also used Bazzill Basics Half the Edge in Pinecone, Cappaccino Twine, Distress Ink in Forest Moss, and Tiny Type letters in Brown.

Happy Father's Day

I just thought I would share a card I made yesterday for my Father In Law! Obviously he's not getting a Scraptacular Images gift card as shown in the picture, but a Canadian Tire one!!

I got the idea from here: http://www.holiday-crafts-and-creations.com/fathers-days-cards-shirt-pocket.html and went with it. After I had it made, I had a thought - this would make an awesome gate fold card if you reversed the collar on the other side so you opened to shirt up to open the card! Know what I mean?

Anyhow, here is my card:

The paper is from an old line of We R Memory Keepers, and I inked the edges with Fired Brick Distress Ink and my Ink Blending Tool. I used lots of double sided tape to hold this puppy together, and sewed the pocket on before I attached the cardfront to the card itself. To keep the stitching even-ish - I used the Tim Holtz Design Ruler.

Easter Beauty

Happy Friday everyone! Look how gorgeous it is out there!!! mmmm soak it up ladies, in case it goes away too quickly! And of course, don't forget to honour all of the fathers out there on Sunday!!

I "whipped up" this layout yesterday evening to share with you today. Join us on the forum for further information on some of the design elements I thought about while making the layout.

Here is the layout:

I used the gorgeous Vicki B papers for this project from BoBunny - in particular Fabulouso, Florilicious, Loverly, and a scrap of the Stripe. After I cut out the main pieces for the layout, I went back and cut the inside of the first two layers out so as not to waste the pretty paper - to see how to do this, check out THIS TECHNIQUE TUESDAY. I used the EK Success Deco Scallop Edger Punch on the orange strip of paper and added some Ranger White Enamel Accents to the BoBunny plain chipboard Flourishes.

The flowers, I will show you how to make yourself in the next Technique Tuesday - so check back next week to see how quick and easy they went together. A couple of Prima Eline Jewels, and some Cinnamon Stickles on top of the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Fancy Foam Thickers and we were in business!

Makes Me Smile

Today I am here to share with you a happy layout from Virnna to attempt to counteract the gross, dreary weather we are having this week. I am starting to lose faith that we will actually have any nice days this summer!!!

For some reason when I spot the first butterfly of spring, I find myself pausing from my busy day and watching it flit from flower to flower. Sometimes if I am lucky, I actually get a photo of it. In this layout, I wanted to capture the bright, sunny, happy feeling I get when I see the flowers out on the trees, and the first butterflies of the season appear in my backyard.

I sprayed the Bo Bunny Double Dot Chiffon Journal cardstock with Tattered Angel’s Hula Hoop Glimmer Mist and Charcoal Chalkboard Glimmer Mist. I inked the edges of my photos with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. The horizontal banner is a piece of Basic Grey Basics patterned paper inked with Wild Honey Distress Ink. I wrote the word smile and then pierced the paper and stitched using DMC Floss. The letter stickers are micro mono Basic Grey stickers from the Hello Luscious line. The cute little birds I found in the stash at the store.

To create the striped pattern below the banner, I used Echo Park’s For the Record and Summer Days collections, and My Mind’s Eye Stella and Rose and Lime Twist collections. The flower embellishment is a Basic Grey Bloomer from Hello Luscious. The stickers are from Echo Park Summer Days, and the pearls are Basic Grey Opalines. Finally, I inked a Tim Holtz Grungeboard shape with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and used micro mono Basic Grey stickers from the Life of the Party to make the word “spring.”

Technique Tuesday - Spellbinders Cloud Background

Hi everyone! I am having technical issues with my camera so no video today, but a picture tutorial from my cell phone, so the pictures aren't great!! They are there though!!! :)

I saw the technique for the background of this card while flitting about on some blogs - specifically the Tombow USA blog, and this lady's blog. (I also love how she made the tire swing actually swing, but I digress) I thought it was awesome and had to try it out myself. I got out my Tombows and coloured up the gorgeous butterfly and got to making my clouds!!

What you will need:

2 colours of Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass & Broken China used here)
Temporary Adhesive (Tombow used here)
Ink Blending Tool & Foam
A piece of Cardstock
Scalloped Oval or Circle (largest circle in Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Circles Large used here)

Step 1:

Add some Temporary Adhesive to the back of your die.

Step 2:

Attach die to cardstock and using the lightest shade of ink apply ink to cardstock by starting ON the die cut shape and moving onto the paper. I found it a little easier to work upside for this.

Step 3:

Remove shape.

Step 4:

Re-apply adhesive if necessary, add more ink to your blending tool, and reposition the die cut to wear you want the top of your next cloud and ink again.

Step5:

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have your desired background. Once I had this done with the first colour, I added the darker colour to my tool and placed the die cut back over where I had initially placed it and added a small amount of the darker colour to add some shading.

Things to keep in mind:

This is a picture of my first attempt at this technique. You can see where some of the clouds meet that the clouds that are supposed to be BEHIND another actually come out over top of it. Just think about where you are applying ink and where you are placing the die cut each time!!

Here is a larger version of my card:

For the butterfly, I used THIS TECHNIQUE from awhile back to emboss the stamped design with Jet Black Staz On and Versamark and Clear Embossing Powder. I coloured her with 3 colours of Tombow markers (673, 723, 755) and my blender pen.

Sooo after all of the inking and colouring, my hands were slightly messy!! And I tried to wash it off with baby wipes and then soap and water...I got nowhere.
So I pulled out my trusty Craft Scrubbie and what do you know - clean hands!!

It worked so well. I know it looks like it's just a big pumice stone type contraption, but it's not! It was so gentle on my hands that I didn't even need to add mousturizer to them when I was finally clean - and I'm ALWAYS doing that! It worked so quickly - it was like it was just peeling the inks off my hands like my hands were a Non Stick Craft Sheet! It was amazing! Ok, that's my shameless plug of the day!! :)

Hi everyone! I'm a little slow today....my brain isn't ready to turn back on after my mini vacation last weekend! So it's kind of late in the day with this post, but no fear...it's here!
It's Father's Day this weekend and Virnna made a great card while I was away! Check it out!

This Sunday we will be celebrating the fathers in our lives so here is a simple card to wish all those men a special day.

I used a green Bazzill cardstock base, and layered it with some Basic Grey and My Mind’s Eye Lime Twist patterned paper. I cut some Copic X-press It cardstock with a Spellbinder Nestabilities Labels One Small Die Cut and stamped it with a stamp from the Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge Stamp Set using Memento Rich Cocoa Ink. I then colored the image using various Copic markers. I stamped the My Favorite Things sentiment stamp from the Let’s Hear it for the Boys stamp set on to kraft cardstock. The Tim Holtz Grungeboard stars were colored with Forest Moss Distress Stains. Distress Stains are great for coloring chipboard/Grungeboard pieces. It’s quick and easy and the color keeps its intensity. Finally, I inked all the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink with an Ink Blending Tool and used some EK Success Pop Dots to add dimension.

My October Pages....

Sooo back before we opened I started this scrapbook with a 2 page layout for each month of the year for the first year that Larry and I lived together. Well, it's still not done. hehe I finally finished October's pages this week with help from our Weekly Sketch Challenge on the Online Forum, and I am going to share them with you today!

I had been fighting with this paper from SEI for awhile because the flowers were just so pretty but it was hard because I didn't want to cover them up! The sketch dawned new light onto the situation....finally! I know a lot of people have a hard time with the large prints on the patterned papers out there, so I thought I would show you what I did!

Here is the final product:

You can see that I cut out some branches and flowers to use around the main photo on the page. This way I could cut out whichever flowers I really wanted and I could "grow" some extra flowers off of the branches!

I decided that I wanted to liven up the flowers a bit, so I dug out the ol' trusty Stickles, Glossy Accents, and Enamel Accents. I added Cinnamon Stickles to the leaves to draw in some veins on the leaves. On the flowers I added Enamel Accents on some and Glossy Accents on the others. I also cut out a matching Flower Center and popped them up!

Finally, for the title, I used some Thickers. The problem was that they were lime green! It didn't really match but they were fabric, so I hauled out my Walnut Stain Distress Ink and Blending Tool and just changed their colour! Perfect!

Summer Keepsake Box

Hi Everyone! It's a gorgeous Wednesday out there so far! I hope it stays like this for awhile now, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I have a great project for you today from Bernadette that goes great with this sunshine.

This week I played with the new Echo Park line called Summer Days. It is very bright and sunny and made a couple great projects.

First I made a little souvenir box with a little wooden box from Dollarama. The patterned papers I used to cover the box are called Clouds and Quilt.

I measured the box and used the Scor-Pal to score the papers where the edges fold up. This made it very easy to fold over the sides for adhering. I used Ranger Matte Medium with a foam paint brush to adhere the papers to the box and love that glue now for these types of projects...I can honestly tell you that paper is not coming off and there was no buckling of the paper! It's awesome!

I cut a piece of adhesive chalkboard vinyl to fit on the top of the box so that each year it can be changed to appropriately fit the souvenirs inside.

And finally I decorated the top of the box with the Summer Days Element Stickers. I added dimension with one cloud and the sun using Pop Dots.

With some left over items after making the box I made a little 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card. Again I used the Clouds patterned paper, more of the element stickers, a piece of My Mind's Eye Twine, and a couple of little clothes pins from the store's stash of goodies in the back room. I added a flower element sticker on the inside of the card too.

A layout from Bernadette today using the super cute new Little Yellow Bicycle Tiny Princess papers!! Oh they are sooo adorable!!!

I have a new niece and just love doing layouts with her pictures! Jessica got some really great baby lines in at the store and I love how this layout turned out.

So the patterned papers that I used are Little Yellow Bicycle Tiny Princess, Tiny Purple Stripes for my background sheet and the title block. Pink Geometric for the piece to the left of my photo. And Sweetest Stripe for the longer strip under my photo.

I used a LYB Tiny Princess Canvas Border with polkadots and cut a Banner Canvas Border for the top left corner of my layout.

My title was cut using the Pooh Font Cricut Cartrigde and some Sticko Alphas in the store's stash. I attached the block with a brad and added my journaling on little strips of white cardstock underneath so I just have to flip up my title block to see it!

My dragonfly was cut using the Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridge. I added white Doodlebug glitter to the body and lime green Doodlebug Glitter in strips to the body. I used glossy accents to adhere the glitter. And the Glitter Gone Mat was perfect for cleaning up my mess after! LOL!

Some Happy Cards From Virnna

Hi everyone -
Today I'm giving all of you non-forum goers a sneak into what went on this past weekend! Virnna created two cards that I adore and wanted to share with you. The rest of the samples from the challenges are being kept secret over on the forum - although it's not really a secret because anybody can go check them out!

Jessica asked me to share some more details about the cards I created for Scraptacular Image’s 2nd Birthday Online Crop that she hosted this past weekend. The cards were for the “1 Stamp 2 Ways” challenge. Of course I was happy to oblige.

In this first card, I stamped the “Happy” Hero Arts background stamp using Staz On Royal Purple, roughed the edges, and inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I stained the doily using three different colors of Tim Holtz Distress Stains: Forest Moss, Antique Linen, and Dusty Concord. After that, I stamped the doily with the “Happy” Hero Arts stamp and sprayed it with Pearl Perfect Pearls mixed into some water in a Mini Mister. As usual the photo doesn’t pick up the shimmer. I hand cut the leaves and used the Copic Multiliner to draw the stitching lines. To create the flower, I stamped the Bo Bunny Vicky B flower three times on Copic Xpress It cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the flowers with Copic Markers. I am sorry but I didn’t write down the marker numbers. I assembled the flower following the technique featured in this Technique Tuesday by Dana Colbourne. I added some Diamond Stickles to the petals which gives the flower some extra dimension and shine. The sentiment was stamped with a Studio G stamp that actually says, “So happy for you.” I just cut out the happy and used it. The patterned paper strip is from My Mind’s Eye Stella and Rose Collection.

For this next card, I once again used the Bo Bunny Vicky B stamp and stamped it onto Basic Grey’s “Inviting” paper from the Hello Luscious line. This time, I used Versa Mark Ink and Artful Stamper White Embossing Powder and heat embossed the images. At this point, I took some sponges (one for each color of ink) and some Distress Inks and rubbed on the colors to make the images pop. I started in the center of the flowers with Scattered Straw, moved to Tumbled Glass, then Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord. I didn’t use a fresh sponge when I applied the purple inks so when I rubbed them on they have a hint of red from a previous project. In between the flowers, I used Scattered Straw.

I stamped the Studio G sentiment on the backside of the Basic Grey paper with Memento Black Ink and attached it to the card with a staple. The butterfly is also from the Studio G sentiment set. I stamped it on Copic Express-It cardstock and colored it with a Copic marker. To finish the card I added some pearls to the flower centers and butterfly.

I had a lot of fun using this stamp and using different techniques to get a different look. Stamps are so versatile. If you didn’t get a chance to try this challenge during the crop, I encourage you to take the time and give it a go.
